Recently TDA was notified by a client that she would be traveling to Armenia and Georgia to adopt an eight month old child. During this time, she would be required to be in-country for two weeks to complete the adoption process. As a woman traveling alone, she was concerned about the local conditions and she asked for a consultant to accompany her. Our consultant, a former Special Forces member was selected because he was a trained combat medic, had trained personnel in these countries, and had specific experience in both countries. He was deployed to the region several days in advance, assessed the conditions and provided the driver, vehicle and associated support for an uneventful and successful adoption process.
When a client wished to visit Barranquilla, Colombia, we contacted our staff member in Bogotá who is a former member of the British SAS Regiment who has lived in Colombia for the past twelve years. He gave us current information and conditions in the local area and we provided both vehicle and security support to the client assuring a safe visit.
Last year we were asked to provide security and support to a Fortune 100 company whose sales personnel and senior management were visiting South Africa and several adjoining countries. During this trip, our two security agents, both former members of the South African Police Special Forces, through their quick actions, avoided a serious tragedy. As our clients were returning to their hotel late at night from the Johannesburg airport, our agents saw what appeared to be a disabled vehicle parked in the intersection ahead. They ordered the drivers of both vehicles to slow down and begin stopping and backing the vehicles to change routes. As they took this evasive action, several carjackers ran from the side of the road towards our clients and the security personnel. Through the continued actions of the security agents, everyone escaped from the carjacking unscathed. Our work did not stop there. The clients returned to the hotel where our agents spent several hours discussing the incident with the clients who were quite shaken up and reassuring them so they could continue their work the next several days.
Shortly after September 11th, the CEO of a major company had scheduled a series of business meetings throughout Western Europe. In this very uncertain time period, his staff wanted to provide him with very low profile security while on the trip. TDA provided additional personnel to meet with his own security person throughout the trip and provided them with a low profile security presence. The trip was a success and completely uneventful.
TDA was retained to provide security support for a group of people traveling to Guatemala on behalf of Habitat for Humanity. Because of the number of people involved and the remote area, TDA sent an agent to conduct an advance survey of the area. In the “advance” TDA became aware that there was a very good trauma facility in the area. Arrangements were made to have them on call in the event of a medical emergency. We also learned that the airfield was closed at night which meant any evacuation after dusk would be impossible and this would then be added to the overall security plan. During the two week project, one consultant was on site which proved to be invaluable. By contacting local sources our consultant learned that the route they were utilizing to travel to the village for the building project was no longer safe. This was due to an early morning shooting and robbery of a local bus. Our consultant immediately changed the travel route and added armed security personnel to accompany them on the drive. The project was then completed safely and without incident. |
